Day 18: Lighting, Backlighting
I had this sitting on a piece of glass over a lamp covered in white plastic. I changed the category within the time frame per Kim's and Uni's comments. I'll use underlighting another time, now that I understand how to do it! :)
These are an excellent subject for backlighting. Semi-transparent and slightly shiny things are super and sparkle beautifully, just like yours have. You have done an excellent job. The rich colour is especially nice looking down into the jar.
ReplyDeleteSince your light source is directly opposite your camera, it's more like backlighting than underlighting. The light is shining from behind your subject as opposed to the camera angle.
This is beautiful - I'm loving the composition too, with your subject peeping in from the top corner.
ReplyDeleteI echo what Kim says about underlighting vs backlighting though - If you'd shot this more from the side as opposed to from above, you'd have been spot on :-)
At first, I thought these were marbles. What an interesting subject and the gradations in color are great. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty...from clear to rich color...It appears that you need to pick the proper subject to get such a wonderful effect.

Very very pretty and a lovely white background.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty colors. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCool colours and interesting way to set it up.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were marbles at first too :) But now knowing that they are gel, I want to stick my hand deep down inside and squeeeeeze! hahah.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful green color and nice diagonal composition.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, glad you were able to change the category. I have shied away from those topics as being too hard, so well done!
ReplyDeleteThe more I look at this, the more like it. :) It gives me a happy feeling.
